About Me
I focus on creating a safe, comfortable environment tailored to the individual. I firmly believe that therapy works best when the therapeutic approach is geared towards the client's learning style and approach to growth and progress. I also believe that therapy is an ongoing collaborative process and greatly enjoy puzzling together with clients to find what helps the most.
I utilize a wide variety of therapeutic approaches to help clients on their journey. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) informs my conceptualization of client struggles and progress. ACT views psychological rigidity as a primary source of personal and systemic suffering. Through use of ACT, clients can expect to feel less stuck, have different perspectives, engage more productively to meet their goals and identify and follow their values. I utilize humor, metaphors and imagery in therapy to help clients to expand their worldview.
I earned my Doctorate and Masters degrees in Clinical Psychology at the University of Denver's Graduate School of Professional Psychology. I am Licensed Psychologist #2670 for the State of Oregon. You may know me by my former name under which I was initially licensed: Alia Mulder-Rosi.
